Narayan P. Chapagain received his M.Sc. in Physics from Nepal and M.Tech in Atmospheric and Space Sciences (2003) from India. He joined as a faculty in Physics at Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He moved to the US and received his Ph.D. in Space Physics in 2011 from the Center for Atmospheric and Space Sciences at Utah State University. He has been awarded a Jack Eddy Postdoctoral Fellowship Award from the UCAR Visiting Scientists Programat to conduct research at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign under the supervision of Prof. Jonathan Makela. He is working on investigating the coupling relationships between mid- and low-latitude ionospheric irregularities using the ground- and space-based multi-instrument observations. His research interest is mainly focused on the dynamics of the thermosphere-ionosphere system, including the investigating triggering mechanisms of equatorial spread F that impacts our communication and navigation systems.
